Seems to me that you are doing a fine job of putting together disparate things. The colors box made me laugh out loud and immediately feel ashamed for doing so, then be confused because I wasn’t sure why I felt ashamed. Fantastic.
ALP was/is gut-busting funny a lot of the time, but let’s face it, the basic premise was good for a giggle even when you weren’t looking at the actual comic. An alien and a predator share an apartment in NYC? Comedy gold. IYSS has no such fabric to work from, and as such will sometimes be different flavors of funny. I don’t like every comic that’s been up, but the ones that work are surprises in ways that ALP could never be.
Keep up the good work, Bernie. It’s fantastic that the internet let’s you entertain so many people with your hobby.

Anoter “aLp moaner” here. why, oh why do you guys all suck up to whatever Bernie is doing? aLp was, at least for the first two years, a mind-blowingly original and creative comic that had won over thousands of people around the globe – I’m from Budapest, Hungary, for instance.
But this iYSS… it smells of perspiration, Bernie is trying real hard. It’s just not working. Not funny at all. All he does is throwing a bucketful of clichés on the screen and pretending to see through what’s really happening in politics..
And, as opposed to Neil above, I do fully get American politics.
Stop being mindless sheep who follow the one with the bell around its neck. It makes me sick to see a bunch of you guys orgasm over every new IYSS strip by saying “the best one yet” and stuff.
This is useless, and I think Bernie, too, knows it somewhere. I’m unsubscribing in this very moment.

I think this comic will only make Americans laugh because they are the only people that

Grow up. You are both acting like spoiled little whiners screaming “I WAAANT MY ALP!!!” and refusing to allow those who actually *enjoy* IYSS to just enjoy it.
It’s very different than ALP, but we all knew that going in – if it’s not for you, don’t let the door hit you on the way out. But to try to attack everyone here who DOES enjoy it is just revealing of your juvenile attitude. I dont spend time at The Family Circus website telling everyone there that I hate the comic and that it sucks (even though, in MY opinion, it does suck). They enjoy it, so let them read it.
Duh.
Bernie – GREAT job branching off in a totally new direction. It’s still a bit wobbly at times, but then so was ALP at the beginning. Don’t let the naysayers get you down – there are plenty of people who support your efforts at developing IYSS.

I’m not a big fan of the severe liberal lean of the political aspects of IYSS. If it were more balanced with everyone having their fair share of poo flung at them, I’d be happier, but this has really shaped into just another anti-Republican dartboard. I will not be reading again and I will make sure the door does not hit me on the way out.

I’ve seen this happen a lot and I just wanted to comment…
The first thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of people are complaining that aLp is gone. I, personally, would rather that Bernie quit while (1) he was still ahead and (2) before he started scraping around for stories and jokes that turned people off. I’m glad that he recognized that he would rather do something he wanted to do rather than keep pandering.
The second is that people are complaining either about American politics or the liberal lean. This comic is openly stated to being a blog- if he was a news reporter a political analyst, I could see the complaint. IYSS is a blog done by a guy who also happens to do comics. If you don’t like it, don’t complain about it, because the only person who is going to care is Bernie, and why would you want to be mean to a guy like that? Again, this is about pandering. If Bernie felt a different way he would blog/draw a different way.
Finally, stop complaining about other peoples comments. (I know, I’m being hypocritical, but I have to say this somewhere.) You don’t know if they read it. You look like a douche when you yell at them. And finally, of all the people that read this, only a small percentage leave a comment. Stop taking a few comments as large representations of what the general readership thinks. I recognize this and I wish everyone else would too.
Maybe I’m an idealist, but I wish that other people displayed far more compassion; the world would be a far better place.

I’m American, I liked aLp, and I started to like this, too.

It’s a shame that two great comics were lost.
