Politcal satire is always the best.
Q. did the bloke on the radio actually know what he was talking about, because even reading the text version, its like a load of mainly gibberish, coming from someone who is trying to make a point, but isnt sure how exactly.
I’m sorry, I’ve been a long time reader of ALP, and I gotta say it was way funnier, because of the characterizations… IYSS is…. ok. I hope this works out for ya, Mr. Hou, but I think I’m going to keep re-reading the old ALP archives, if that’s alright with you.
Limbaugh’s not a confused, neighborhood-type guy who misspeaks. why present him that way? Is there sympathy for the devil here? The guy’s visibly corrupt, everyone else can see it, why can’t you?
Awkwardly funny! Although Rush, as usual, has no idea what he’s talking about. Lots of men have had the guts to say “no” to a black guy. For instance:
Black Guy: “Hey, it’s really hot in this field and I’ve been working nonstop all morning. Can I get a drink of water?”
Slaveowner: “No.”
Black Guy: “My stop’s just two blocks away. Can I sit up front?”
Bus Driver: “No.”
Black Guy: “Is there any chance this new country you’re forming will regard us as human beings, worthy of equal protection under the law?”
Benjamin Franklin: “Well, I would certainly hope–”
Other Founding Fathers: “Quiet, Ben! No.”
I love Hillary popping up in that last panel, just waiting to swoop in.
I really enjoyed ALP, Bernie, but I love IYSS too. I hope when nay-sayers cry “Bring back Abe and Preston!” and whine about it, you’re able to just let it roll off your back. (’Cuz if seeing that bugs you half as much as it bugs me, it must drive you crazy!)
I have to say that I have maybe seen one or two funny IYSS comics, the others are just not funny at all. aLp was and still is way better.
Still I’m gonna keep reading this comic in hopes that it might be more funny, and hope that there might pop up an aLp comic again soon.
I have been waiting for a few posts to be made before making any comments. I believe IYSS is a perfect balance to our current social and political climates. Bernie, even without looking back to all the commentary made in ALP, you have exposed the idiocy of the media, the double standards of both political parties and the shallowness of pop culture. Keep up the good work.
So far, so good. I think you have yet to find your ‘groove’ in this comic the way you did with ALP, but this last one was great. it was ‘enh,’ until the last panel when Hilary jumped in, and i’m guessing that was your intent here. I agree with Shane’s comment here about the media, political parties, and pop culture. I’ll be visiting regularly (and of course…going through ALP archives, as well =))
Bernie, I love the new stuff. I loved ALVSP, but it was a different comic and ran it’s course (hopefully, not forever!?)
It’d be great to see this stuff get picked up by a weekly publisher..
One thing to keep in mind is that IYSS and ALP are both funny in a diffrent manner. ALP used its own characters, and while it occasionally went to outside events, it did so in only on the most basic terms, using universally well known characters (bill clinton and freaking jesus are kinda well known by the readership, I suspect, regaurdless of how one feels about either). Comparing ALP and IYSS is like comparing a Sitcom to The Daily Show.
So all you folks out their who dont like IYSS because it’s not the same as ALP, chill. It’s ok. We love you anyhow. it’s just not your thing. We know.
… Just got sit in the back of the bus and wait for your stop ^_^
Keep it up, Bernie. Nice job. Only complaint is that your caricature of Rush doesn’t really look like him. It looks like any other bald, middle-aged, overweight upper management guy. JMO…
ahh yes. the bitter, angry, hate-spewing liberals. you accuse conservatives of being intolerant and whatnot, but really, when was the last time a “diversity” class offered “diversity” in the political spectrum? it’s either “agree with socialism or get an F”. and that’s just in the colleges. really, is rush so bad that you people have to wish him death? i didn’t read all the comments, i just know that lots of you do. YOU are the ones with no tolerance. YOU are the ones who hate, YOU are the ones who deprecate anyone who shows a different opinion than you. whenever you start to lose an argument (which is inevitable if you argue against someone with half a brain (see? now you got me into name calling)) you just start name-calling and whatnot. or change the subject, again and again, when you keep on being proved wrong.
oh, and one more thing. well, two. first, rush is twice the man any of you liberals will EVER be. two, i’m leaving this…. whatever it is, not coming back. so insult me all ya like, i won’t be back to reply!
Poop, you need to get a life. Seriously. Your little rants just make you look like a deranged, close-minded, biggoted psycopath and, well, this is the second of your comments that I’ve read and it’s already getting a bit pathetic.
Anyway, an okay cartoon. I mean, I can see the humour, I’m just not…eh, I dunno. I really felt AlP kicked some arse and this doesn’t do it for me. Good luck with it, though, that’s all I can say.
