Interesting side note to 8/08/08, the first night game at Wrigley Field was to be played on 8/8/88 but got rained out. You can see how it’s gone for the Cubs since . (Well, sure, it wasn’t going so well before 8/8/88 either…)
7 is a lucky number traditionally, I dunno where this 8/8/08 crap came from exactly. Are people born on 7/7/77 lucky too? or 8/8/88? Pah- 888 is the name of a betting website, lol. Nice one Bernie.
I thought I’d impart another strange date co-inky-dink, although it probably only interests me: On July 6, 1976 (7/6/76) my car’s odometer turned 76,767.6 just as I pulled into the driveway of a girl who I was going out with for the first time. We almost got married on 8/1/81 but pushed it off until 8/29/81 (can’t tempt fate with too many of these date things) and have been married now for almost 27 years.
Bernies not the kind of guy who just wants dribbling praise, ill keep coming here because i know he can do great work, but this is clearly still “under construction”
This stuff just isn’t as funny as ALP. I don’t know what the others see in it. It’s a half-smile at best….ALP made me roll laughing. This stuff is boring. Sorry, Bernie.
Funny stuff, but I’m of the kind to agree that ALP was the most awesome stuff I’d ever seen…just the novelty of it, on top of the characters themselves, on top of the situations as well… It just all came together so well, for the most part… With my Nephew and myself being fans of the Aliens and Predator series(-s-s-s-?), we would both end up nearly dieing of laughter…
My dad was born on 8/8 at 8:08am weighing 8lbs 8 oz. No joke.
We’re Chinese, and it’s great because besides 8 in Chinese sounding like the word for prosper and wealth in Chinese, it also sounds like the word for Dad. Because of that, 8/8 is Father’s Day in Chinese culture.

Nicely done. Who knew that 8 could be suck an unlucky number.
August 11th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
@Neil: The number 8 is considered lucky in Chinese culture, because the Chinese word for eight sounds like the word for wealth.
Great comic, by the way.

August 12th, 2008 at 1:37 am
